Coalition Building Toolkit

Chair of Community Breastfeeding Coalition Networking:
Betsy Schwartz, MMHS, PCDT (DONA), email contact is betsy@tenthmonth.com

Since the founding of Florida Breastfeeding Coalition, Inc. in April of 2008, we have strived to follow the example and goals of the United States Breastfeeding Committee as they supported increased capacity and engagement of breastfeeding coalitions in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and Indian Tribal Organizations. FBC strives to support and network with geographical community breastfeeding coalitions and taskforces throughout the state of Florida. Building local community coalitions and taskforces both in every county and as many institutions such as universities, hospitals, agencies and businesses which are critical to making cultural change and removal of barriers to successful breastfeeding.

This webpage is to offer and share information both to start a coalition or taskforce in your community or to help strength those who already exist. Every level of coalition or taskforce is playing an important role in helping to acheive the action points of Dr. Regina Benjamin, U.S. Surgeon General's Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding.

A QR Code (it stands for "Quick Response") is a cell phone readable bar code that can store website URL's, plain text, phone numbers, email addresses and pretty much any other alphanumeric data.  Storing up to 4296 characters they are internationally standardised under ISO 18004, so a QR code is a QR code all over the world - they've been big in Japan forever, broke into Europe and the UK a few years back, and are now getting real traction in USA. Think "print-based hypertext links" and you'll get the idea.
